Citadel FCU Offers Top Odd-Term CD Rates

You can score these great rates with a $500 minimum depositCitadel Federal Credit Union has strong CD rates in its regular terms, some even beat what you’ll find on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

But it’s the Citadel Limited Time Special CD that has us intrigued. These certificates of deposit are offered in three terms, and all beat the best nationally available deal in the nearest corresponding regular terms.

With a $500 minimum deposit, the suburban Philadelphia-based credit union pays:

  • 1.20% APY on 14-month CDs.
  • 1.70% APY on 26-month CDs.
  • 2.00% APY on 38-month CDs.

The best of the bunch here is the 38-month CD, which beats the top nationally available 36-month CD by more than a third of a percentage point.

The credit union’s website (www.citadelbanking.com) has a tiered-rate structure for regular term CDs based on a minimum deposit. There are no tiers for these special certificates of deposit.

As mentioned above, some of the regular-term CDs beat the best nationally available deal as well.

The best of these is the credit union’s 60-month CD rates, which pay:

  • 2.50% APY with a $500 minimum deposit.
  • 2.55% APY with a $25,000 minimum deposit.
  • 2.60% APY with a $75,000 minimum deposit.

The best nationally available bank deal pays 2.20% APY.
