Chicago Deal: 3.10% On A 66-Month CD

Liberty Bank has a special CD rate for customers who live near one of its five, Chicago-area branches.

Libety Bank has a special CD rate for customers who live near one of its five Chicago-area branches. It’s paying 3.10% APY with a $2,500 minimum deposit on a 66-month certificate of deposit.

That’s not quite as much as the 3.29% APY you can earn with the best nationally available 60-month CD rates, but it’s close enough to be worth considering.

The early-withdrawal penalty is a little steeper than average – 12-months worth of interest. And, as with many local deals, you must buy this CD in person.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of other banks in our extensive database.

U.S. Bullion RepositoryFort Knox Federal Credit Union is still offering this special on 23-month CDs — a deal that’s open to all savers, regardless of where you live or work. It’s paying 2.25% APY with a $500 minimum deposit, which is a quarter-point more than you’ll earn from the best nationally available 24-month certificates of deposit.

Here’s a local deal that’s still good. Total Bank continues to offer Miami-area savers 7-month CDs for 1.30% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit. That’s more than you can earn with the best nationally available 6-month CDs.

Sorry to say that this special is no longer on Liberty Bank’s Web site.
