Chase Checking Account Bonus Pays $150

CD rates specials better than some big banksYou can get an extra $150 just for opening a checking account with Chase Bank and making a single direct deposit.

The offer is only available for new Chase checking customers and is good through July 15.

You’ll have to visit Chase’s promotion website first to download a coupon for this signup bonus.

Visit https://rewards.chase.com/XSell/150/p2053-l2 to see the details on the bonus.

Once there, you’ll be asked to submit your email address, and Chase will email you a coupon so you can sign up for the $150 bonus when you open your account.

You can open a Chase Total Checking account either online or in person and set up direct deposit.

Once your direct deposit lands in your account, which must be within 60 days of opening an account, you’ll receive an extra $150 within 10 business days.

If you close your account within six months, you’ll lose the $150 bonus.

It takes a $25 deposit to open a Chase Total Checking account.

The account has a $12 monthly fee (or $10 if you live in California, Washington or Oregon). The fee is waived if you have direct deposits of at least $500 made each month, keep a $1,500 account balance, or keep at least $5,000 in your deposit and investment accounts with Chase.

This is good for you if you aren’t looking for an interest-bearing account (as this one pays no interest) and you can meet the requirements for free checking. Otherwise, this deal isn’t worth your time.

The bank is based in New York and has more than 5,500 branches throughout the country. If you want to open an account in person you’ll have to print out the coupon and bring it with you to the bank to receive the bonus.

Don't miss out on the next bank deal. Get the newest deals delivered straight to your inbox!

I’m in Massachusetts and tried opening an account online. I got the following message:

The Chase product or service you selected is not available in the Zip Code you entered. Please check the Zip Code to be sure it was entered correctly. For more information about our products or services, please Contact Us.

I called 1-877-242-7372 (press 2) (press 1)(then press # and again # until you get to a person). They said this account was not available, even online, in Massachusetts.

Bummer. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, please let us know if my info is incorrect. Thanks.

Derek: Chase’s PR folks tell us the promotion is available “in our national footprint where we have branches.”
