CD Rates Leaderboard For Oct. 11, 2011: Top 60-Month CD Rates Increase To 2.25%

This is a great page to bookmark so you can always find the best nationally available deals on the most popular CD rates. Finally.

We have updated our CD Rates Leaderboard because we’ve added a bank that offers higher CD rates.

Colorado’s 5Star Bank pays 2.25% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit and now tops the 60-month term.

New-to-us 5Star Bank — a division of the Armed Forces Benefit Association — sells certificates of deposit nationwide through the mail as well as at its four Colorado Springs branches.

An application is available on its website (www.afba.com/5star).

The two former 60-month leaders continue to offer 2.20% APY. They are:

First Internet Bank of Indiana (www.firstib.com), an online bank located in Indianapolis, which requires a $1,000 minimum deposit.

Quaint Oak Bank (www.quaintoak.com), a suburban Philadelphia bank with a single location, which requires a $500 minimum deposit.

And two other banks pay 2.15% APY. They are:

Discover Bank (www.discoverbank.com), an online bank owned by the credit card company, which requires a $2,500 minimum deposit.

MainStreet Bank a northern Virginia bank that sells its CDs nationally through its airbanking.com website and requires a $500 minimum deposit.

Banks qualify for our rankings by accepting deposits from all savers, regardless of where they live, either online or through the mail.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.
