The online division of a small Florida bank is creating havoc on our CD Rates Leaderboard.
For the second consecutive week, CSBdirect.com, the online division of Citizens State Bank, has cut CD rates. For the second consecutive week, its cut results in a Leaderboard change.
Four banks now offer the top nationally available 1-year CD rate of 1.05% APY:
- Colorado Federal Savings Bank (www.coloradofederalbank.com), an online bank based in Greenwood Village, Colo., which requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.
- CIT Bank (www.bankoncit.com), the online consumer bank of CIT Group Inc., which offers financing to small businesses and middle-market companies, which requires a $25,000 minimum deposit.
- GE Capital Retail Bank (banking.gecrb.com), an online subsidiary of General Electric’s commercial loan operation, which requires a $25,000 minimum deposit.
- NexBank (www.nexbank.com), a division of NexBank Capital Inc. with two branches in the Dallas area, which requires a $10,000 minimum deposit.
CSBdirect.com cut its yield on 12-month certificates of deposit to 1.00% APY.
After edging higher during the first two months of the year, the top nationally available 1-year bank CD now pays as much as it did at the end of 2012.
Banks qualify for our rankings by imposing no restrictions on who can buy their certificates of deposit, either online or through the mail.
Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.
