CD Rates Leaderboard For June 18, 2012: Top 6-Month Deal Gets A Bit Brighter

This is a great page to bookmark so you can always find the best nationally available deals on the most popular CD rates. The leader is the same, but the deal is a bit more attractive.

Ascencia (www.ascenciabank.com) raised its 6-month CD rate this morning to 0.90% APY from 0.81% APY.

The online division of PBI Bank in Louisville, Ky., requires a $500 minimum deposit.

You’ll find this and all the top deals on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

Outside of one bank’s one-week run in May we’ll call a special (even though it wasn’t labeled as such), the best nationally available 6-month CD rate hasn’t paid more than this since November.

The rate hike also puts some space between Ascencia and the next-best deals we’re following. There are two banks that pay 0.80% APY.

They are:

Colorado Federal Savings Bank (www.coloradofederalbank.com), an online bank based in Greenwood Village, Colo., which requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.

EH National Bank (www.ehnbank.com), which has a single branch in Beverly Hills, Calif., and requires a $10,000 minimum deposit.

Banks qualify for our Leaderboard rankings by accepting deposits from all savers, regardless of where they live, either online or through the mail.

We don’t include credit unions because of the restrictions they place in order to open an account. That doesn’t necessarily make these deals any less valuable (although there are sometimes fees to join); it just means you have to jump through a few more hoops.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.

Don't miss out on the next bank deal. Get the newest deals delivered straight to your inbox!
