CD Rates Leaderboard For Feb. 26, 2013

We have another rate cut to report.

CSBdirect.com, the online division of Florida-based Citizens State Bank, cut interest rates today, dropping the bank from the top of the CD Rates Leaderboard in the 24- and 36-month terms.

After a good but brief run, the best nationally available deals in those terms have settled back to what they paid at the beginning of 2013.

With a $10,000 minimum deposit, the top 24-month bank CD pays 1.30% APY. That offer comes from NexBank, a division of NexBank Capital Inc. with two branches in Texas.

NexBank (www.nexbank.com) also offers the best 36-month CD. It pays 1.40% APY.

Two-year CDs paid as much as 1.75% APY earlier this month; 3-year CDs paid as much as 1.85% APY.

You can still find a nationally available 3-year CD that pays 1.85% APY on our list of highest CD rates from credit unions.

That offer comes from Pentagon Federal Credit Union, which has generous membership requirements. Grab this deal soon because PenFed tends to change its offers at the start of the month. March 1 is Friday.

Banks qualify for our rankings by imposing no restrictions on who can buy their certificates of deposit, either online or through the mail.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.
