CD Rates Leaderboard For Aug. 12, 2011:
MainStreet Cuts But Retains Top Spots

This is a great page to bookmark so you can always find the best nationally available deals on the most popular CD rates.Ooh, that Mike Cetera is good.

Mike posted that MainStreet Bank was going to drop the return on its 3- and 5-year CDs today and, as you can see on our CD Rates Leaderboard, it did just that.

The 36-month interest rate was reduced from 2.00% APY to 1.90% APY. The 5-year yield was cut from 2.60% APY to 2.50% APY.

But those are still the best nationally available deals on those certificates of deposit, so kudos to MainStreet.

You can buy those CDs at one of the Virginia bank’s four suburban Washington locations, or through its website.

Just remember that you have to click your way through’s application process for an “airsavings” savings account to find the CD rates. (Very annoying.)

If you want to see one the best deals in the country on 15- and 35-month CDs, swing back to Bankaholic later today.

Our next post we’re working on is about a credit union that’s paying its members in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin some enviable returns.

Don't miss out on the next bank deal. Get the newest deals delivered straight to your inbox!
