CD Rates Just Under 3% In Arizona

cactusCredit Union West has, in its words, “hot CD rates” for its nearly 50,000 Arizona members.

We agree: They’re smokin’.

The Phoenix-area credit union’s current special pays 2.90% APY for 60-month CDs with a $10,000 minimum deposit.

The rate bumps slightly, to 2.95% APY, at $50,000.

While that easily beats the top nationally available 60-month offer on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which is 2.16% APY, it still isn’t as, well, sizzling as the 3.04% APY Pentagon Federal Credit Union continues to pay.

(To be fair, Credit Union West does have an IRA CD special that pays as much as 3.20% APY.)

But we realize some savers value convenience, or may already have a relationship with Credit Union West, making the difference in interest rates insignificant.

You have to be a member of Credit Union West to purchase these certificates of deposit. Anyone who lives, works or worships in Maricopa or Yavapai counties can join, as well as members’ family members.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.

Members can buy CDs over the phone, by mail or in person at a branch.

Credit Union West has 11 branches in Avondale, Cottonwood, Glendale, Peoria, Phoenix, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Sun City West and Surprise.
