The Hawkeyes’ credit union is scoring big with a couple of special CDs that trounce the top rates you’ll find in other college towns.
With a $1,000 minimum deposit, the University of Iowa Community Credit Union pays:
- 1.75% APY for 19-month CDs.
- 2.00% APY for 29-month CDs.
The 24-month term on our CD Rates Leaderboard is the closest to those odd-term specials and comes in at a substantially lower 1.55% APY.
The University of Iowa Community Credit Union boasts 120,000 members from 42 counties in the eastern part of the state as well as students and alumni of the Big Ten school.
Members can buy CDs by mail, over the phone or in person at one of a dozen branches in Coralville, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Grinnell, Hiawatha, Iowa City, Marion and North Liberty.
