Two weeks ago we updated the best savings account rates because three of the top five banks in our previous rankings lowered their rates.
We have to update again. But this time we found a great savings rate for residents of every state except North Carolina.

Less than two weeks ago we scoured the country to find the top-paying savings accounts.
But three of the five rates have already been cut, including the top two.
That sent us back to work and we’re pleased to report that we’ve found four new deals that are actually better than the ones they replace.

That beats the best nationally available savings account rate and matches the best returns on 24-month CDs.
To qualify for that rate you have to open a Momentum [...]

A small bank in West Virginia has taken over the top spot in our rankings of the best, nationally available savings accounts.
SFGI Direct, the online division of Summit Community Bank in Moorefield, W. Va., is paying 2.25% APY with a minimum deposit of only $500.
That’s comparable to what you can earn with the best [...]

Tennessee Commerce Bank is back on top of our rankings of nationally-available savings accounts.
The bank, with a single branch in Franklin, is paying 2.30% APY with a $250 minimum deposit and new accounts can be opened online.
That’s what Tennessee Commerce has been offering all summer.
It was good enough to head our June rankings but, Bank [...]

1st Constitution Direct has a unique deal for short-term savings.
Its Direct Super Savings Internet Special pays a fixed 2.50% APY for the first three months.
After that the rate drops to a very respectable 2.25% APY — although there are no guarantees on how long that will last because the rate becomes variable and can [...]
