Carry Delta’s Credit Card, Avoid Bag Fees

Delta has become the second airline to waive baggage fees for fliers who carry one of its credit cards.

American Express SkyMiles CardContinental was the first to provide that perk to its cardholders last year, and we can only hope other carriers will do the same.

Ideally they’d all follow Southwest’s lead and stop charging everyone to check their bags. But we suspect that isn’t going to happen.

So allowing their loyal, frequent-flying cardholders to check a piece of luggage without paying an additional $25 is at least a step in the right direction.

Travelers can use the savings to cover the annual fees that all airline credit cards charge — $95 a year in the case of the Gold Delta SkyMiles American Express card and $150 for the Platinum Delta SkyMiles American Express card.
