California Deal: 2.10% on 5-Year CD Rates

CBC Federal Credit Union has golden 60-month CD rates for southern California savers.

It’s paying 2.10% APY with a $500 minimum deposit.

Deposits of $50,000 to $99,000 earn an additional 0.05% APY; deposits over $100,000, an additional 0.10% APY.

That beats the top nationally available 60-month CD rates on our CD Rates Leaderboard, regardless of the minimum deposit amount.

Plus, beginning April 4, the credit union will offer a CD promotion coinciding with its 60th anniversary.

The details haven’t been released yet, but we’ve been told that on a 60-month CD, the first six months will earn 6.00% APY.

We’ll definitely check back with the credit union to find out the minimum and maximum deposit amounts, as well as the annual percentage rate for the remainder of the term for that promotional CD.

Of course, you must be a member of CBC Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit, and you must live or work in Ventura County to join.

Membership also requires a $25 deposit in a savings account.

But once you’re in, you can buy CDs online, over the phone or at one of CBC Federal’s five branches.

They’re located in Camarillo, Oxnard and Thousand Oaks, and at Port Hueneme and Point Mugu on the Naval Base Ventura County.
