You’ll earn a little more this month with the most lucrative high-yield savings account.
Bank of Internet USA jumped to the top of our rankings of nationally-available accounts by paying 2.50% APY on its Advantage Savings, with a $100 minimum deposit.
It surpassed Tennessee Commerce Bank, which continues to pay 2.30% APY with a $250 minimum deposit.
They’re followed by Goldwater Bank at 2.03% APY, with a minimum deposit of $1,500.
Compare those deals with the best savings and money market account rates from hundreds of other banks in our extensive database.
Although all of those rates are available nationwide, it’s a shame we have to depend on such small banks for the best deals.
Bank of Internet is an online bank based in San Diego. Tennessee Commerce has a single branch in Franklin, Tenn., and Goldwater a single branch in Scottsdale, Ariz.
But savings account customers aren’t appreciated much these days.
Too many banks — especially too many big banks — are offering a paltry 0.10% to 0.25% APY, with Chase Bank continuing to set a miserly standard we hope no one else will match, paying 0.01% APY on its savings and money market accounts.
