Best 24-Month CD Rates Top Out At 2.25%

The best 24-month CD rates took a beating this winter.

The best 24-month CD rates took a beating this winter.

Savers who took advantage of the top-paying deal from Jacksonville Bank last November locked in a return of 2.60% APY.

Now Country Bank leads our rankings of nationally available rates.

But the 14-branch bank in central Massachusetts is only paying 2.25% APY, with a $500 minimum deposit.

Unfortunately, you can’t buy Country Bank CDs online. You have to call (800) 322-8233 and have a customer service explain how to buy a certificate of deposit by mail.

The next best rates are:

2.20% APY with a $10,000 minimum deposit from Golf Savings Bank, with a single retail location in Mountlake Terrace, Wash.

2.15% APY with a minimum deposit of $2,500 from
Tennessee Commerce Bank, a community bank in Franklin, Tenn.

2.07% from the State Bank of India, which has a $2,500 minimum deposit if you apply through the Chicago office, or a $5,000 minimum if you apply from the New York office.

A good alternative to these offers is Legacy Bank’s 25-month CD, which is paying 2.90% APY.

Or consider a 5-year CD with a high enough interest rate, and low enough early withdrawal penalty, to be a better short-term deal than even the top-paying 24-month CDs.

Check our database of CD rates to compare all of these rates to the best deals from scores of other banks.
