Corus Bank Reviews & Ratings
I’m not a fake as one person who lives 1/2 way across the country said. I’m an attorney and have done business with Corus for years without a problem. They are not the highest rated, so yes, I would watch the 100K FDIC insurance limits. They typically have higher rates to attract money. If something were to happen which I doubt, FDIC would typically have your funds available within 48 hours so I’m not worried. So you might have problems with online, I don’t know, however, doing business with them on a personal basis has always been without problem.
Rate down to 3.8%.
Also, Corus isn’t the most healthy bank. Watch your FDIC insurance.
I have had several CD’s w/Corus for years. EZ to deal with and they ACH monthly interest into my local bank ckg account. HOWEVER…when you close your account it can take until ‘Tishabov’ before your check comes in the mail. Like a week or more.
This bank is currently providing the best rate, but setting up an account is a hassle. For example, Countrywide allows you to immediately setup your account online – you just need to call them after you get an email so that you get your account number for wiring the money. Corus requires you mail in the documents and wait before wiring (up to 10 days). Of course, which ever bank has the best rate, but Countrywide was a much cleaner setup.
I have no problem with ACH transfers. I have my Fidelity brokerage account and Amtrust eSavings linked to both my checking and Ultimate Monet Market Account at Corus. Corus does not do the linking. The accounts have to be linked from outside Corus. I have been with Corus for many years and have always had good service.
These folks get it right the first time. Nice bank to do business with.
Always able to reach live body. Especially like the on-line service. Good statements. Good rates.
I was all set to open a Utimate Money Market Account with CORUS until I discovered that they are not part of the ACH system nor do they plan on becoming a member. Talk about being out of step with the real world!
Corus Bank bounced a good and valid check that I wrote because they claimed that my signature on the check was not identical to my signature on file. They did leave me a phone message before bouncing the check but did not allow time for me to respond — I called back first thing the next morning but the check had already been returned. I’ve written thousands of checks over the last 40 years with numerous banks and never had anyone question my signature, nor bounce my checks. The Corus Bank rep did not apologize despite the fact that their error caused me considerable inconvenience and fees. In fact, she was quite impolite and even let me know that it could easily happen again. I appreciate the bank’s caution in scrutinizing transactions but if they were suspicious why not hold the check for a day to investigate instead of immediately bouncing it?
I can’t tell if the comments here are fake or not but I have CDs with Corus bank (also with Indymac and Countrywide bank). To me Corus customer service is the best. When I call, they don’t put me on hold for so long (Indymac is the worst, I have to wait for a long time). When I want to withdraw money they never ask me why, just send me the check back promply. Unfortunately, Corus CD rate is not the best now.
Avoid this kind of crap at all cost. Any bank that sends its employees online to pad their ratings doesn’t deserve a single customer.
Most of these reviews are not accurate. They are extrememly suspicious of bank employees posing as average consumers.
I have had CD’s with them for the last 2 years and they are easy to work with. When I wanted to withdraw I just called and they took care of it easily. I got my money quickly. Their rates always seem to be in the top three as far as the best rate.
Nothing bad to say. It’s banking with old time service. No endless phone tree. No gimmicks. Just deposit the money and call them if you have a question or need help. It doesn’t get any better than this.
They never try to hide the fact that your cd is up for renewal; offered higher rollover rate than anyone else, though rates were dropping. Clear, timely communication – doesn’t get any better or easier.
I’ve used Corus in the past for high rate CDs. The staff is helpful and their service is personal. A great feature is that they send you a reminder letter (hard copy) and provide a form that you can mail back with instructions for transfer of your CD when it matures. Many banks don’t send transfer forms or they send letters that bury the reminder at the bottom. The only minus is a lack of online options. I plan to transfer funds into their lates 5.15% CD.
Been with Corus for a long time, good rates, always in the highest, pleasure to deal with
Talk with REAL people, with names at this bank. AND all questions or problems are promptly handled. Have had CDs with them for several years now.
when i checked this out it says minimum is $300 not $100 and does not pay 5.11 unless over $10000…who is writing this stuff????
Excellent bank to do business with. My CD accounts are cashed in quickly without hassles.
