Flagstar Bank Bank Reviews & Ratings

I wrote the review below about their rate scam, and it seems since they are a MI bank, that is why their rate in MI is not what they advertise.

Well come to find out, they also do a HARD PULL on your credit when you sign up. That could be a negative for people with already poor credit reports.

Rate was lowered to 3.50% APY.

It seems that the high yeild money market account 3.45%(no longer 3.6)is only available to online customers that live in states other than Michagan,Indiana, and Georgia. These states are where they have all their branches. Very poorly rated bank(desperate for cash) Make sure you stay within FDIC limits.

I found a link online going to their acclaimed “3.65″ rate (google flagstar money market), yet when I signed up by clicking that offer, it gave me 2 options. Regular money market or the express one. Neither of which was higher than 2.5% apy. I emailed and called them in disgust, and they stated it depends on which area you live in as to what the local bank interest rate will show for those accounts. What the hell is this bull? Needless to say I did not continue the signup process. I don’t know what their game is.

I’ll stick to my emigrant acct. They don’t lie or have false and confusing advertising.

In additon to extreme limits on electronic transfers, funds being transferred are held in limbo for many days without generating interest, which means Flagstar’s advertised interest rates are misleading.

Bank transfers are agonizingly slow–almost a week in most cases
The interest rate is good. It is also difficult to transfer funds. I have put up with them for four months, but no more. Their customer service reps are apathetic at best. They can answer your questions, but that’s about it.

My CD is maturing in a month, and I need to make sure it doesn’t roll over again. I sent an email, and within 24 hours, I was sent a response with a “business reply mail” envelope template. I informed them in writing that I wanted to cash out the CD at maturity and printed the template onto an envelope. It didn’t cost me a penny for postage. I will review again in one month when the CD matures.

If you are comfortable with 100% on line banking than this is basically a free checking account with interest. They were a little slow opening the account which was a little un-nerving but everything turned out fine. The promotional interest rate has slipped from 5.3%
but it is still very competitave. I pay my escrow bills from this account so this account frovides me with the liquitity I need and earns decent interest at the same time.

I had a mortgage that was sold by Flagstar. Their customer service was completely incompetent not to mention extremely rude. On top of that, once they sold my mortgage to another lender, they continue to send me huge amounts of junk mail trying to get me to take out additional loans. Worst bank I have ever dealt with and I am a Financial Advisor.

I applied online 2/18/08 and they took my $100 start up money from an external bank account.

I still dont’t have an account # on 2/25/08.

I have called 3 times and get a different answer every time, I have been told I will get an email with info, I have been told I need signature cards, at this point I am just waiting to see what happens.

I can comment from a mortgage standpoint- Had my first mortgage with them and experienced inept and rude customer service. The worst example was: They required an escrow account for taxes but never paid the taxes on time without calling them and arguing with them. I finally refinanced just to get away from them. THEY SUCK!

My mother has been with Flagstar for years for CD’s. That is how I got on with them. Always had the best rates. They have banks in WalMart. Very personal service and always give a gift of something when you go in. Rarely busy, so they sit down with you for 30 minutes and let you talk. No problems ever on anything. You can renew over the phone when your call your branch at your closest WalMart. Would stay with them just for convenience over a 1/4 point somewhere else.

Been with CWB for years and am locked in at 5.65 for a few more months. Will never see that rate with BoA again. Same deal happens with World Savings being taken over by Wachova. They also took AGEdwards which Im not excited about. What is a person to do that doesnt care for either of these banks?

I open the account in a blink of an eye. Interest rate are very good. so far I’ve earned 31 bucks, thats money making money by itself. Instead of depositing your money in any other bank while those banks make money out of it and you get nothing you should open a Money Market Flagstar Account.
3 or 6 withdraals in a month…. well that is the only way you push yourself to save some money..!! Just put your money in this account and forget that it even exist..
I sent all the paperwork to Michigan so my account was open in that state

GREAT ACCOUNT!!! Ive been using Flagstar bank for awhile now, I have a checking, savings and money market account. The money market account is great, and if you use it like it is supposed to be used, you dont get service fees, its a savings account you are supposed to save your money in it not spend it. Customer service is great in MI. Ive never once had fees that just showed up. I only have good things to say about Flagstar Bank.

I wrote the below review. I finally received a call from the Customer Service Manager, as a one time courtesy they are going to refund the $64.00.

DO NOT OPEN THIS ACCOUNT. I opened account this worthless account. I put money in. I received a letter to participate in a debit card promotion. If you used the visa debit card 5 times you would receive a 100 point certificate worth some rewards like a radio or flashlight. I did 6 transactions. I received 3 $10.00 service charge fees for a total of $30.00 and 2 $32.00 not sufficient funds fees for a total of $94.00. I called and they told me you can only do 3 visa debits per month. I said you have to do 5 to qualify for the promotion and they said you cant use this account for the promotion. SO I said why send me the promotion letter then and they basically said screw you meanwhile they refunded $30 but so far have refused to refund the $64.00. I would have too keep $500 for three years at 5.30% to get those fees back so I closed the account.

Rates are good with minimum $500 deposit in AL; you have to call to do wire transfers from another account, which is a little inconvenient.
