GMAC Bank Reviews & Ratings
This will be my last experience with this bank,
Easy all the way!
didnt hear anything for 4 days and called. The said they either didnt receive it or it was unreadable. Meanwhile my check is sitting somewhere in their office. Now I must mail them a copy of my License when they should have asked for it in the beginning. I am waitng 5 more days and then will cancel the whole thing. Some of the staff do not appear to be knowledgeable.
Their service was outstanding during this time, I received atm cards, checks and the works. When I decided to close the account it was simple and they were courteous.
I am back because the CD rates are 3.9% for 12 months and that is looking attractive.
Highly recommend.
Yes, there is fine print that you will get the rate when your money actually posts, but this is true with any bank, online or in person.
I shopped around, and these rates were higher than any others that I deal with. I’m sold on ING Direct, but GMAC beat their rates by over a point.
The website is user friendly and informative. The security features are top rate. I had no problems whatsoever, and will most likely do more business here whenever the rates are competitive.
Little complex to open account . Need to call and verify. but overall smooth process.
Just closed the account today with the rate 3.5%.
Closing the account had nothing to do with the lower rate. I tend to be a loyal customer. What happened was I never received my pin for the ATM card – “It came in a plain white envelope” I was told. Might have thrown it away with junk mail.
So I needed a new pin.
The two woman that I spoke to were both “superior” in attitude and indifferent to delivering any type of customer service at all. Their attitudes turned me off completely.
I am surprised that so many people here rave about GMAC customer service. Not my experience. I am moving my money to Corus when I receive the transfer ‘in 3-5 days’ hopefully.
Oh, word to the wise though: this is a money market: dont go over the allotted 6 transactions a month, because there is a fee (duh, but Im still relatively new to this)…it does keep track of your transactions for you though, so keep an eye on that and youre golden; another plus is that they only count transfers out of the account against you – you have unlimited inbound transfers.
I was previously with ING (actually I still have some money there), and I find GMAC easier to deal with and with a money market rate thats 0.8% better.
High interest rates are also good
