Atlanta is a hot bed for short-term CD rates.
Two banks in the Georgia capital best the CD Rates Leaderboard in the 3- and 6-month terms.
Capitol City Bank and Trust Co. is offering 0.95% APY for 3-month CDs with a $500 minimum deposit.
Affinity Bank is offering 1.11% APY for 6-month CDs with a $10,000 minimum deposit.
Both banks’ CDs are available only to Georgia residents.
You can buy Affinity Bank’s certificates of deposit online, over the phone or in person at its one office, which is located on New Northside Drive NW — just off Interstate 285 at exit 22.
But you must buy Capitol City Bank and Trust Co.’s certificates of deposit in person. The bank has eight branches in Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah and Stone Mountain.
