I saw this promo for the AMEX card on CNBC. If you sign up and spend $1000 by October 31, 2008, they’ll give you 25k rewards points, enough for a domestic round-trip plane ticket.
This deal was WAY hotter last year when they didn’t have the $1000 spending requirement… But after all, financial institutions like AMEX are in trouble right now, and can’t afford to dish out hot bank deals like they used to.
Still a decent offer. Also remember that this card has a $125 annual fee but is voided the first year.
Probably doesn’t apply if you applied for their offer last year right?
Can I close the account before the year is up, and waive the $125 annual fee?
as far as other good credit card offers, has anyone heard of the mygpsoffer dot com website? I just did it to apply for the Discover More card (my 2nd Discover Card at the moment) and am hoping I’ll be getting the free Garmin Nuvi as promised. I got rejected by the Discover Business card offer, but this seemed just as good and easier to get if it’s legit (they approved me within 24 hours)
for new accounts only, and yes, amex is very cool about letting you cancel before the year is up. i did this with the last offer.
one time they offered me $30 not to close. I could’ve canceled the next day, keeping the money, but didn’t because I felt bad
can i use the 25,000 points for other stuff like gift cards instead?
What a comeon…..expecially the part about about getting a domestic flight for 25K……everytime I try to use my skymiles on a domestic flight, it way eceeds 25k……who do you think you’re kidding??????? This is really irritating, I have saved my miles so my husband and I could take a flight ( domestic) together and was told to go to Texas it was 45K each…..some deal I must say!!!!!!!!
Yes, you can use 25k points for gift cards. I saved mine up and used it to buy a iPod from their membership store.
the miles have to be used during the off peak times. i actually combine the miles from this and two other am ex offers and got a round trip flight 2 europe on delta

I already have a Amex gold credit card (not the business card) – will I get points if I apply for this deal as well.
I applied for and was able to get this card. Just put your name in as the business name. I also have a regular (non-business) Amex gold card, and I believe you can get points for both.
if you don’t want to wait long for the points, just send yourself a 1000 paypal invoice, it will cost you a few dollars bit its an easy way to reach 1k and get your 25k points
