3-State Deal: Checking Bonus Pays $150

pen on top of a checkbook and checkbook registerResidents of three Northeastern states can score a bonus of up to $150 by opening a new checking account with The Bank of Maine.

If you live in Maine, Massachusetts or New Hampshire, you can open a Promise Rewards Checking account with the bank, based in Portland, Maine.

If the $150 bonus isn’t enticement enough, the bank also gives you 10 cents cash back each time you make a debit card purchase used as credit and 10 cents for every direct deposit you receive, capped at $30 per statement cycle. You’ll also have all your domestic ATM fees reimbursed.

For the bonus, you’ll get $50 if you receive a direct deposit by the end of your second statement cycle.

You’ll receive another $50 if you make five bill payments of at least $25 each to five different payees. And you’ll get $50 if you make 10 debit card purchases used as credit during your second statement cycle.

The Promise Rewards Checking account also requires that you sign up for online statements. You also are required to have direct deposit of your payroll, pension or government benefit check, and you must use online bill payment.

You’ll need to deposit at least $25 to open the account, and you’ll earn 0.10% APY if your balance is more than $2,500. There are no monthly service fees.

The bonus offer is available if you haven’t had a Promise Rewards Checking account in the past six months.
