3-State Deal: CD Rates Up To 2.21%

Bags of moneyFirst Community Federal Credit Union has competitive special 60-month CD rates, which are even higher for its Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin members with savings and checking account relationships.

It pays 2.11% APY with a $300 minimum deposit.

But that boosts to as much as 2.21% APY, depending on the members’ reward level in the credit union’s Member Advantage Program. Details about how that’s determined are on the website.

Either rate beats the top nationally available 60-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which is 2.05% APY.

You have to be a member of First Community Federal Credit Union to purchase these certificates of deposit.

Membership is available to:

  • Anyone living or working in the nine southwest Michigan counties of Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Van Buren.
  • Educators, students and current family members in the downriver areas of southeast Michigan’s Monroe and Wayne counties.
  • Anyone who lives or works in Wisconsin’s Rock County or in the Illinois counties of Green, Walworth or Winnebago.

Note that in Wisconsin and Illinois, the credit union operates as First American Credit Union.

First Community Federal Credit Union can vary its rates in those three regions, but we found these specials consistent across the board.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.

Members can buy CDs over the phone or at a branch.

First Community Federal Credit Union has 11 branches in southwest Michigan, including four in Kalamazoo and two in Battle Creek; two in southeast Michigan, in Southgate and Brownstown; three in Wisconsin, in Beloit and Janesville; and one in Rockton, Ill.
