3 Banks Pay At Least 1.45% On 3-Year CDs

AmTrust Direct continues to lead 36-month CD rates with its longtime offering of 1.55% APY.

While we’re glad for the consistency, we’d like to see at least a little movement upward for this term. It hasn’t budged since Jan. 17.

The online division of Cleveland-based AmTrust Bank, which is owned by New York Community Bank, AmTrust Direct (www.amtrustdirect.com) requires a $1,000 minimum deposit.

Other banks we’re tracking for the 36-month term for our CD Rates Leaderboard:

Doral Bank Direct (www.doralbankdirect.com), which is the online bank of Doral Bank, the leading community bank in Puerto Rico that also has five branches in northwest Florida and two in New York City, pays 1.50% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

Barclays (www.banking.barclaysus.com), which is the online American operation of the big British bank, pays 1.45% APY with no minimum deposit.

CIT Bank (www.bankoncit.com), the online consumer bank of CIT Group Inc., which offers financing to small businesses and middle-market companies, pays 1.42% APY and requires a $1,000 deposit.

Discover Bank (www.discoverbank.com), which is an online bank owned by the credit card company, pays 1.35% APY with a $2,500 minimum deposit.

Three banks pay 1.31% APY:
