$100 Citi Professional w/ ThankYou® Network Gift Card Offer

CitiBank is running a credit card signup bonus on their Citi Professional Card with ThankYou® Network. I like this offer because it is very straightforward, there are absolutely no fees, and the card basically sells itself with its rewards program which provides 3 ThankYou® points for every $1 spent at restaurants, gas stations, and more.

How to Get Qualify for the $100 Gift Card Offer

  1. Apply for the Citi Professional Card w/ ThankYou® Network
  2. Once you receive the card, make $250 worth of purchases
  3. Your account will be credited with 10,000 ThankYou® Points
  4. Redeem your 10,000 points for a $100 gift certificate at any of the following stores (Target, Best Buy, Bloomingdales, Sears, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Home Depot, GAP, Pottery Barn, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Ruth’s Chris, just to name a few)
  5. Even if you have no use for the gift card, I’m sure you can find someone on eBay who has a use for it (hint hint)

Benefits of Citi Professional w/ ThankYou Network Card

  • 3 ThankYou points for every $1 spent back at restaurants, gas, car rentals, and office supplies. ThankYou points can be redeemed for gift cards
  • No fees
  • It’s a MasterCard, so it’s accepted everywhere
  • Itemized spending report every quarter, informing you of what kinds of purchases you made. This feature is great for taxes.

With Citibank credit card you will earn for your spendings. Yes, it is definitely true. For each dollar you spend you will gain Thank you points. When these points accumulate say up to 10000, then you will receive a gift certificate for $100. Many exciting offers like 3% cash back, $100 gift certificate, 0% APR etc. are provided to customers. So earn huge profit by signing up to Citibank credit card.

The gift cards are redeemale at a limited number of outlets and should not be treated as redeemable for cash. (If you have 16,000 points you can redeem for cash. If you’re going to be shopping at somewhere like Foot Locker or Crabtree & Evelyn any way then ths is not a bad deal, but it should not be treated as cash. The list of available deals starts here:

Citibank Professional Card gives really good rewards on gas and dining. I’ve got a card myself, and I like it. Every few months, they send you a very detailed statement that lists your purchases by category (Merchandise, Restaurants, Automobile Services, Travel, etc), which is very helpful if around tax time if you run a small business. Plus, might as well sign up and get the free $100 gift certificate.

I looked at the Citi offering and it certainly appears to be a very good offer. One word of caution is in order. My wife applied for, and received, an American Express card.

She was told she would be getting X% back on travel, entertainmnet and Y% back on eating out and Z% on almost everything else.

Lo and behold when she checked her card, she saw she didn’t get X% (the highest percentage) by Z% on travel and entertainment.

She called and was told by customer service, they didn’t classify that particular activity as travel/entertainment. And, she was advised to read her terms and conditions and she would find all the exceptions and definitions of the categories.

So, I would expect one should do the same thing with Citi’s card. The law says as long as they explain everything in the Terms and Conditions, they can say anything they want in their advertising short of complete fraud. I read the law btw.

    That’s my two cents.

Citi cards come with a variety of benefits and types. This makes them suitable for a specific category of people with specific needs. They also provide worldwide accessibility and reward points like this for almost on all of the citicards.

Citi Petro-Points Master Card, Citi Driver’s Edge Platinum Master Card, Citi Enrich Master Card, Citi Kids Futures Master Card are to name a few cards which offer cashbacks, reward points and fast payment facility etc.

But there is one thing I got confused about this particular credit card. Before we can redeem 10000 Thank you points for a gift card, we must first make a purchase. But it will be helpful if one can know what kind of purchase or what is the min. amount we have to spend on that purchase? We may find it in the terms and conditions. It is good to do this before jumpstarting for the card.

This card is also beneficial in that the quarterly statements help us when we pay the taxes on a quarterly basis.

We can also wait for another more 6000 points to redeem it for cash. See Manny.F says that 16000 points are redeemable for cash.

For this offer, you can get an extra 5000 points.
Just start the application process “Apply Now” and then close your browser. A popup will appear offering you an extra 5000 thank you points for a total of 15000!!

Really? I just replicated it again. Click on “Apply Now” graphic. On the screen where it asks you for your email & personal info, just click on the X to close the window and the offer should appear.

Thank you guys, I just followed tomfox instructions and I got my offer and I was approved in a few seconds (with an initial credit line of $9,000. Now I have another Citi card (with a credit line of $12,000 that I don’t use) so I am going to wait to get this new card, then call Citibank to switch my limit from my first card onto this one to get a total of 20K limit , and then take advantage of the transfer offer 0% for 12 months, pay myself with one of the check they will send out, and invest these 20K onto my AmtrustDirect account,, which gives me a 5.36 return, which will give me a big chunk of change at the end of the 12 months ($1,072). Plus I have the $150 gift certificate with the points. Total made today a little over $1,200. Once again, thank you guys.

i can get the popup very easily. I used it on 3 computers. Do this. Do not use the link on Bankaholic. 1)Go to citi.com 2)click on “credit cards” 3)click on search for cards in the drop down box 4)click on Citi professional thank you network card 5) when that screen appears click the “x” at the top of YOUR browser and the popup will appear. 6)then click on “apply” in the new popup window. Good LUck

Is there a fee for closing the credit card account after getting the bonus? I didn’t see anything in the fine print, but wanted to know if anyone else out there had already canceled.

PS. How long does it take to get the bonus? I been waiting over a week since I made my first purchase on the card.

  28. Brad said:

Instead of electing a bank institution/credit card to pay off, Citi allows an option to get a check sent to you as a balance transfer option. I’ve already done this with my Citi Professional card last month, and invested in the 3-month IndyMac CD @ 5.65% APR.. Haven’t received my 15,000 bonus points yet though, but they say they should show up within the next 2 billing periods.

  29. MikeS said:
on October 26th at 05:04 pm

Utilizing CC introductory 0% interest offers to invest is a smart way to make some easy money. However you should read the fine print for each card, as some will charge a fee for the check / cash withdrawal / balance transfer which will cut into your profit!

I tried to go thru the direct link that bankaholic posted on 5 September. I went thru the whole process, got to a screen that said I was approved, clicked to close the browser, then received the message that my application was not processed due to a systems error and to try again later. What’s up with that? I need a phone number to check and see where I am in the application process…. if anywhere.

I signed up for 2 citi cards. The business one and this professional. I have 10000 points from the business one but the 15000 from this one hasnt show up yet after 3 weeks. One gentleman above said you might have to wait 2 billing cycles for the 15000 to be deposited on the account. Anyone confirm this?

  32. Joey said:
on November 21st at 06:54 am

Yea its kinda bullish. I was told it could appear after 1 statement or take two. Its NOT instant or even after the first purchase + a few days to show up. Its really at their leisure. Kinda stinks, makes me regret doing this… theres better offers. Also, 15000 points does not get you $150… Its $100 in actual money or $140 in gift cards (at most)…

i also went through the whole thing thx to the post here, and no, you can’t check the application status online but they say you can call their 1800 # if you have questions. I did get the 15000 points on my first bill but like some people already said, only the $100 giftcards are true value, the rest are like 6000 pts for $50 or 3500 pts for $25 - i guess they saw thru people who’re only applying to get the bonus pts! Can’t complain tho - at least i’ll get $100 outta this!

I took a look at the offer this morning, and when I closed the window a popup showed up showing “earn 5000 additional points just for applying now” for a total of 15000 points. So I applied, but it says ” Further processing is required at this time.” I think I may be denied because a few months back I applied for and received the Citibank Professional card. I ended up earning $100 at Chilis, $100 at Sears, and $15 statement credit on that deal!

  55. JasonA said:
on June 1st at 02:27 pm

    Sorry, ignore the above comment.

This is the card where I earned 10000 points, then 2500 more for clicking the X to close the offer window. After I received the card, I used it, and I was givin 11000 points. So I called and yelled at Citibank, escalated to manager, and he said sometimes there is a “glitch” in the system so after I told him I have proof of the 12500 offer (screen shot), he granted to additional points to make 12500. Then I used card for a month or two, earned about 22000 total, and redeemed points for $100 Chillis card, $100 Sears card, and $15 statement credit. Way cool deal!
