    Take a look - Citi has a new account to complement the eSavings. It’s called the ultimate savings account. Costs you 10 bps (its only pays 4.65%) but you don;t have to open a checking account. Citi must have been hearing that people were not opening becuase they didn;t want the hassle of opening a checking account.

    Oh nice another online savings account bonus. btw have you checked out etrades $25 bonus for signing up for their online savings account. It’s less of a bonus but they offer 5.05% on their accounts.

    Beware! I found out these guys pulled my credit file when I opened this account. I thought this was a bit extreme for opening a savings account. If you are in a sensitive credit situation you may want to skip on this offer.

    OK the $50 account is worth about 1% interest on a $5000 for one year (I’m not taking account of any possible tax differential between interest and incentives). So for example the Washington Mutual deal at 6% ( http://www.bankaholic.com/2006/washington-mutual-bank-600-13-month-cd/ ) out performs this at $4000 ( 50 / 1.25% ).
